Hi to everyone, today my blog contains 2 pieces of hand-carved slate. This particular Celtic design depicts the never ending knot.

It symbolises one of the core Celtic beliefs- the natural cycle of all existence. Of birth, life, death and regeneration as reflected in the passing of the seasons, that spirit and time are interwoven in eternity.

These pieces were a serious challenge, mainly due to the to the thickness, one to two inches in parts, of this old Blue Bangor slate. It felt more like working with granite than slate -my dedication to my craft was truly put to the sword!

I had one hanging on an old stone wall and it looked right at home. Perseverance pays off was the lesson I learned from completing them.

So that’s it for today….hope you enjoy!

Go raibh maith agat!
