Hi, Today’s post is for anyone who may feel that they have hit a road block in their creativity.
This piece is my first ever attempt to paint in the Bob Ross style. I had reached the stage in my life where my health had worsened to such a point I knew that I was no longer able to carve slate.
I turned to art- trying water colours with fair results. I tried acrylics but didn’t understand how they worked. Basically, my confidence was at its lowest ever ebb.
By chance (or was it?) I caught an episode of “The Joy of Painting“, I began to watch. Bob’s gentleness was incredible and it nursed my aching body to have a go.
“Deepest Winter” may not be the best painting in the world, I have no idea of where it is today but it blew my confidence out of the water! Looking back at it, it still really impresses me.
The point is the hardest part was the decision to try- and if I could do it then anyone could if they just tried! This was five years ago and I have never looked back. I hope this helps someone.
Thanks 🙂
I watched his show when I was 7 years old and still do whenever I get a chance. Isn’t he the most relaxed person ever? Happy trees:))
Sorry for the delay in my reply, I am watching him every morning and he gives me inspiration for my art work for the day. I think he was as relaxed as the Dalai Lama and I don’t know anyone more relaxed than that! Today I watched him paint and he was performing a “cabinectomy!” 🙂
