Today’s hand crafted slates were completely inspired by and hand carved to the sweet, country, acid house music of Alabama 3. Alambama 3 is  best known for providing the title track for “The Sopranos” (sincere condolences to family and friends of James Gandolfini on his passing). “Alabama Tree” reflects the mixture of raw, funky country element in the bands music.

“ColdHarbour” sprang from  A3’s album “Exile on ColdHabour Lane” – a true masterpiece of sound!

This slate was brutal to work. As you can see there is only one place at the top of the skull which holds the piece together. A single mistake and the whole slate would have shattered. As for carving the individual teeth- it was trying to say the least. I have to say I was delighted with the results, pictures of which won free tickets to see the band play live and unplugged in Dublin. Unfortunately the fibromyalgia flared and had to give it as miss, still loving the band though!
